Health and Wellness Consultant, Dr. Paul Drago, continues his showcase of wellness warriors. Gal Gadot, of Wonder Woman (2017) fame, shares the wellness rituals she practices to keep at her peak.
It's incredible to think that Gal Gadot was actually pregnant while filming the movie. What a warrior! How did she do it? Well, in many ways, Gal credits her drive and energy to one thing: her wellness routine. Dr. Paul Drago shares the staples of the practice:
During sleep, your body is working to support healthy brain function and maintain your physical health. In children and teens, sleep also helps support growth and development. Getting inadequate sleep over time can raise your risk for chronic (long-term) health problems. Gal Gadot maintains a consistent sleep schedule and strives for 7-8 hours per night.
Meditation can give you a sense of calm. It can bring balance and peace that will benefit both your overall health and your emotional well-being. By refocusing your attention on something calming, you can use it as a tool to cope with stress and discover a more relaxed mind. Meditation can teach you to center yourself and find inner peace.
“It's funny how the people who could really benefit from meditation are often the ones who can't find the time to do it.”
Although it's difficult to find time to meditate with her busy lifestyles, Gal Gadot believes it is one of the reasons she can balance so many roles with ease.
Gadot is a strong believer in the power of hydration and even has a personal mantra that she lives by:
“Drink water, be kind, and stay hydrated.”
She believes that proper hydration is a key part of living a healthy lifestyle and has been vocal about the need to prioritize drinking enough water. Gadot believes that staying hydrated is essential for optimal health. She has noted that drinking enough water helps to keep the body functioning at its best and can help to keep energy levels up throughout the day. She also believes that proper hydration can help to improve both physical and mental health. Gadot has also noted that drinking enough water can help to prevent headaches, fatigue, and a feeling of being overwhelmed. By drinking enough water, she believes that it can help to clear the mind and also help to reduce stress levels.
Gadot's diet consists of eating healthy, balanced meals that include lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, lean proteins, and complex carbohydrates. She avoids processed and fried foods, and mostly sticks to whole, unprocessed foods. She also watches her portion sizes, eating only as much as she needs to stay full and energized.
Gadot starts her day with a smoothie made from fresh fruit, Greek yogurt, and some protein powder. For lunch, she typically eats a salad with grilled chicken or fish, and some quinoa or brown rice. Dinner is usually a light meal such as a fish or vegetable stir-fry with plenty of vegetables. Snacks during the day include nuts, yogurt, or fruit. She also takes a daily multivitamin to ensure she is getting all the necessary vitamins and minerals she needs to stay healthy.
Gadot has been training for her role as Wonder Woman for a long time. She has credited her training for helping her stay in shape and prepare for the physical demands of the role. She has worked with a personal trainer for years, and her fitness routine consists of a combination of strength and cardio exercises.
Gadot focuses heavily on resistance training, which helps her stay toned and increase her strength. She typically does exercises like planks, squats, and lunges. She also adds in some light weight lifting and kettlebell swings. In addition to her strength training, Gadot also does a lot of cardio. She enjoys running, swimming, and boxing. She also does high intensity interval training (HIIT) which is a great way to burn calories and increase endurance.
